Equatorial Guinea consists of a collection of islands off
the African West Coast, with a total landmass of about 28,052
square kilometres. The climate is tropical, with an average
temperature of 790F or 260C. Dense tropical rain forest occupies
the bulk of its mainland area; in which are found: About 140
varieties of trees including mahoganies and walnut. There
is also a teeming wildlife population within its land forests
and island coastal mangrove swamps, which include: monkeys,
leopards, crocodiles, gorillas.
The economy of Equatorial Guinea is base on agriculture.
Hunting of wildlife is also engaged in on a large scale. The
principal exports are: petroleum, lumber, cocoa, and coffee;
whilst palm oil, cassava, bananas, and fish are farmed for
domestic purposes.
The main industries include: petroleum, agricultural products
and wood processing complexes. The capital and main port is
Malabo.
Equatorial Guinea is bordered to the north by the Cameroon,
and to the south by Gabon. Its islands contain rich volcanic
lava soil, lakes, craters and cones, culminating in a redundant
volcano of about 3000 metres high.
